Question

Indesign Files will only open without crashing with Indesign 2015CC

Hi,

We have some client files that get supplied to us in Indesign CC2015, from what we are aware the only way to work on these files is to have this version. We no longer have this version unfortunately is there any other way to open these older Indesign files. Sometimes they do open but all the text boxes are corrupt and empty,

You should not even need IDML files to open files created in an earlier version of InDesign. The latest version of InDesign should be able to open any InDesign file created in CC2015. The only problem that could occur would be if they have used any third-party plug-ins that were made specifically for CC 2015. In that case you may need to request an IDML file.

The file crashes when opening the 1st time and after Indesign restarts the 2nd time the file will open but the text boxes are empty.

Get your cutomer to Save them as IDML documents, you should be able to open these in later versions of InDesign.

IDML's work but this creates extra work for the client unfortunately other suppliers don't seem to have the same issue as they have a working version of 2015CC
