Indesign Find/Change search scope defaults

Question

Is there a way to ensure that the search scope setting 'document/story/selection/etc' in Find/Change doesn't change between searches? I'm fed up with it switching to 'Document' when I only wanted to search 'Story' or 'Selection'. I know that I should check it each time but it's easy to overlook and irritating that it so easily changes to something that can have catastrophic effects (especially if you don't notice straight away).

No. When you set up your query, it's just something that you have to check before using it. You can save queries, but the Search value is not part of a saved query. You can put in a feature request here: https://indesign.uservoice.com/.
