Question

I have been working on a book design in Indesign and suddenly while working in modifying the text the file frooze and Indesign frooze as well it was not responding at all. I tried all the recommended actions I saw in many places but nothing helped. Lately I contacted support and they went with me step by step until they tried to open the file but nothing. They promised to ask the backend guys but they did not get back to me.

Any help is appreciated in this matter.

Is the file not opening at all?

Can you share it here - or by DM - or if you want to post a link to a shared file on a cloud service?

Hi @jabra_m_j_5852,

Could you please confirm the version of InDesign you're using and the details of your operating system? It would also help to know where the file is stored? Are you working from a local drive, external hard drive, network location, or a cloud service like Dropbox or Google Drive?

If you haven't already, I’d suggest testing the issue in Safe Mode to see if something in the background might be interfering. If the problem still happens there, try creating a new local user account and test the file from that profile.

For reference, here are steps to try that:

Safe Mode on Windows: https://adobe.ly/44uqSQy

Safe Mode on macOS: https://adobe.ly/3XYf1X6

New user on macOS: https://adobe.ly/4ly8Y5r

New user on Windows: https://adobe.ly/42vfxx4

Once you've tested those steps, let me know how it goes.

Looking forward to your update!

Abhishek

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
