InDesign got printing error for pasted images

I tried to print a InDesign Book file to a pdf file, using "Adobe PDF" printer. But it always popped up an error message that broke the printing process. And I got a printing error log posted below.

In this error log, it stopped printing on page 7. So I went to page 7, found some pasted images from Microsoft Powerpoint, deleted them, and the printing went smoothly.

The problem is that I got tons of images pasted from Powerpoint. Is there's a way I can print this?

At least, if no other way works, you can export the pages as hires raster image (e.g. TIFF or EPS) and print them successively

I see 2 issues:

1. Don't copy and paste from any application to InDesign.

2. Don't create PDFs via printing.

The solution would be:

Save the PowerPoint slides as a compatible file type, like PDF and import them in InDesign via File > Place.

Create PDFs via File > Export > PDF (interactive or print)

Do you have the PowerPoint files at hand where the pasted images are from?

Are they really pixel images? Or are they PowerPoint elements copy/pasted?

To get placeable graphics out of PowerPoint for InDesign layouts is a tough business.

PowerPoint > PDF Export is not reliable.

You could try to convert PowerPoint files to PDF using Acrobat Pro DC and place the PDF in your layout.

What's your version of InDesign and PowerPoint?

What's your operating system?

I'm using InDesign 14.0 and office ProPlus, which I guess is office 2016.

Many images I copied from PowerPoint are combinations of several images and shapes on PowerPoint slides. Do you think that's the source of problem?

yes. To work well, the images must be proper imported raster images, in further projects you can better compose them in Photoshop (copy from PP, create a new Photoshop file based on Clipboard, paste the content) and importto InDesign normally.

in addition to Uwe's message, try to Embed the imported images if they are still not embedded (Links panel > panel menu > Embed)

Hi Anna,

pasted graphics or images are embedded objects by definition.

There is no link in the Links panel of InDesign.

I would avoid embedded graphics as best as I can.

If possible always do a file of a graphic and place that without embedding.

If one cannot workaround the issue one could try to export the pasted graphic to JPEG or to PNG ( transparency can be retained) with high resolution, open that with PhotoShop and work on with a placed PSD file that can be color managed.

Yes, I also think so. I just try to find a fast way for TS to solve the current problem.

I so rarely use the pasted images that can miss something in their workflow

Thank you for your reply. But since I'm trying to export the whole book which includes a bunch of files, export to PDF doesn't seem to be an optimal solution.
