InDesign Hangs After Placing Images in Versions 21.2 and Later Until Force Quit

Has anyone else had to repeatedly uninstall the InDesign updates AFTER Version 21.1 x64…..

From Version 21.2 onward I have had to remove it and revert back to the earlier version. This will be the 4th version that won’t work, because InDesigns keeps hanging after I import an image. The only way out of it is to force close InDesign and uninstall the offending version and reinstall the previous stable version. This is my 30th year with Adobe, and the last thing I expected was a monumental stuff up with a program that I use daily. I have been putting up with it, but now I am pretty much over it. Can anyone shed some light on the issue, please? I really would like to get my moneys worth from my long standing Creative Cloud subscription.

Note the blue circle in the image, which continues to spin until I force close InDesign and uninstal this version and reinstall the previous version.
