Question

InDesign is extremely slow and keeps showing spinning wheel

My InDesign has been running extremely slow and keeps showing the spinning wheel while working on files, since the last update of InDesign(late November), I am running this on my iMac with MacOS 14.7.2. Any ideas or recommendations to troubleshoot this, please. Is anyone else also having these issues? Would appreciate any thoughts and suggestions please.

Thanks

Patch up to InDesign 21.2 and turn of Generative AI in preferences.

If you have the Magnet App installed try disabling it.

The best advice so far that I've seen is to go back to the previous version of InDesign until another update or two comes out.

Hi @Mehul0D45,

I'm sorry to learn about the performance challenges you're having with InDesign on your machine. Could you please try the recommendations provided in this help article (https://adobe.ly/3Bs6wvq) to see if it resolves the issue?

If the problem continues, please provide more information, such as the specific version of InDesign you have installed, and whether InDesign exhibits this behavior when using a certain tool/feature/file or when opening files from a particular directory.

I look forward to your response.
