InDesign Issues with Word Count Not Working

Question

Hello, has anyone else been experiencing issues with the info panel not displaying wordcount data? I've relied on the feature for years without issue until now. I don't have any pending updates, I've closed and restarted the program, and I've tried a new document with the same results. Sometimes the info panel displays the character, words, lines and paragraph lines without data when text is highlighted and sometimes it's completely gone. I'll provide screenshots with both scenarios displayed.

Thank you for that suggestion! I did not try that, however, I closed InDesign (again) and wordcount is now working properly. Possibly unrelated, but the only difference was that there was a "would you recommend" pop-up window on the restart that I interacted with before interacting with the program.

Panel issues like this are usually caused by corrupt preferences so the first thing I'd try is resetting them.
