Indesign keeps crashing ... and crashing ... and crashing

I'm trying to lay out a page. I try to change the font of the text and it crashes. Non stop. Whether I send reports or not, it crashes again. Please help me, somebody. This has never happened before. I'm working on a MacBook ... and I'm on a deadline
