InDesign keeps freezing (2020 and 2019 versions)

My InDesign is constantly freezing on a simple page with text in a table. I have tried older versions and the problem persists. It's really annoying when I need to update the status and I have to wait and keep restarting the program several times just to change a number. Any idea why it does that? It was slow before but never like this. I haven't done any updates when it stopped working. Updated after to see if it improves, but nothing has changed. Ideas???
