InDesign keeps reverting to US Spelling

Doesn't matter how often I go to my Prefs and specify English (Canadian) for Dictionary and AutoCorrect, the next time I launch it, it's reverted back to US. Any idea why this migh be happening? I'm wondering if it has something to do with some setting that our IT Overlords Dept. have somewhere (as they deploy and administer all software). Would anyone even know where I would tell them to look, in order to change it?

Thanks in advance.

Make all changes when no document is open for future new documents.

Is not English-Canada a choice made when first installing InDesign?

And yes, it must be chosen primarily in paragraph styles as well as sometimes character styles.

I don't recall being asked that during install, and isn't the same installer used for all of North america?

A common mistake is to think the dictionary choice controls language. In fact it only specifies WHICH dictionary of any available for each particular language will be used. The language for your text is assigned at the character level, and can be included in your paragraph styles.

That said, I would expect that you will continue to be frustrated by spell check accepting US spellings as accepted alternates for Canadian words, and I wouldn't rely on automated tools to help much.
