Indesign lagging

Hi everyone,

My InDesign doesn't open anymore; if it does, it takes almost 10min, and every little thing, such as opening a white page, makes it lag.

I have tried to re-install it several times with different versions. I have also tried to delete preferences… and it is still problematic.

Some basic questions first.

Which version of InDesign and OS?
How much RAM and spare hard disk capacity do you have?
Do you have a third-party plugin installed, such as a font manager?
Have you tried completely closing your system and restarting it again?

Which version of InDesign and OS?

I have tried several versions of InDesign, and now I'm back on the 18.1 version.

I'm on MacOS Big Sur Version 11.7.4.

 

How much RAM and spare hard disk capacity do you have?

I have 500 Go left. RAM: 8 Go 1600 MHz DDR3.

 

I don't have any plugins installed, and I have turned my iMac off and on several times.

If you only have 8GB of RAM that's probably what's causing the issue, you need at least 16GB and even more will help.
