InDesign Links are no longer grouped

Hi, i'm using the latest version of Indesign:

And now it seems that the same images that are used throughout the document are no longer grouped in the links panel.

Reveal in explorer: Same image, same location.

Why?

Unusual to have filenames with an exclamation mark - is that necessary?

Try to avoid special characters like (*&^%$#@!) etc

As for your issue - if it only started happening on a file you just opened - then try FIle>Export and choose IDML

Open that and see if it clears it up.

Thanks, that's it.

Hasn't been an issue with previous versions the last 10 years.

Interesting - could be related to an OS update - or perhaps something else has triggered the check for unusual characters - often fixes and updates can have knock on effects - not saying that happened here, but it's wise not to include special characters in filenames anyway, due to different OS (Mac/Windows) or different machines (printing machines/RIPs) etc could be problematic.

The entry highlighted by you seems to be grouped. How is that different from other entries.

So that means grouping is indeed working but not in all cases. Try to test if this is the case on on this document. If so the try the IDML export route as suggested by @Eugene Tyson
