InDesign Master Page

Hello

I am working on a catalogue with different sections/chapters where each section has a different colour theme. In this case, I set different master pages for each colour.

If I decide to change a text than runs as a footer throughout the whole catalogue, is there any way I can change it without editing every single master page?

Thanks!

Yes. Create a master for just the footer, and then base the other masters on it. Something like this where my A master includes just the footer text:

And then I make new masters based on the A-Footer master:

Now I can update the footer on all of the masters and pages based on those masters by editing just the A master:

You can do this easily if you based each master page on one main one. This way, anything that you edited on the parent master page the was not edited on the child versions would change throughout all of the child master pages.

I would say yes,if the catalog is built into one .indd file.

Create and edit text variables in InDesign

If the catalog is broken down into multiple .indd files and compiled into an InDesign Book file (.indb), there are several scripting solutions offered which might fulfill your needs. You can find more information about some of them here:

Hope this helps,
