Indesign Master Page Items Not Displaying Properly

Hi there Adobe Community!

I have placed Illustrator .eps files onto my InDesign A-Master Pages. The .eps files are Vector with CMYK colors saved as "Spot Colors". The problem I have is the placed .eps files will randomly display incorrectly on the actual page (see attached screenshots). I can temporarily "fix" this by dragging the A-Master Page thumbnail back onto the spread. However, if I navigate to another spread and then back again the same wrong display occurs. This can happen on any spread or page. Other things I have tried include changing the spread's Master Page to the B-Spread (blank) and back again; re-importing the .eps files into the same picture box; deleting the .eps files and importing again; quitting and restarting both InDesign and my M1 Max Macbook Pro. The display error doesn't show up if I export the document as a PDF and doesn't seem to be anything other than an onscreen glitch. Just annoying more than anything else.

I would appreciate any insight - thank you!

Hi @TenWest Creative , Also, if you are using Spot colors and the screen preview accuracy matters to you, set the Color Mode of the Spot Color to Lab not CMYK. The Spot color libraries in InDesign in Illustrator were set to Lab starting with CS6:

Is there any transparency on any of those pages - it could be a display issue due to this phenomenon

You can check easily if there is

This might explain it.

You could try @Willi Adelberger  idea

But you'd ahve to resave all your files to .ai

From what they are I don't think it's necessary - eps files might be outdated - but if they are working fine then there's no need to resave every eps on your computer to .ai files.

I use EPS files all the time without issues.

Don't use EPS anymore in modern times. Use PDF/X-4 or AI files.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
