Question

InDesign not staying maximized after exiting presentation mode.

I was previously using InDesign in split monitor mode to type out some copy, and ever since then, no matter how much I resize the window, when I exit from presentation mode, the window automatically goes back to the split monitor resolution. Technically, it's not causing any problems, it's just really annoying, so if anyone can help, that be great. I'm running on CC 2024 and macOS Sonoma 14.5.

Just to clarify, Katherine, you are talking about the clicking the Split the Layout View button? And after clicking it again to Close Split Layout View and going to Presentation mode (Sh+W). and pressing Esc to exit, InDesign returns to Split the Layout View?  I can't recreate the issue—on macOS 14.5 and InDesign 19.5.

Since it is an ongoing issue, tryconside r rebuilding your preferences. In v19.3 and later, you go to InDesign > Preferences > General and click the Reset Preferences on Quit button. If it continues after that, see https://www.rockymountaintraining.com/adobe-indesign-rebuilding-preferences-cache/.
