    I solved it by uninstalling and reinstalling the app
    Preference files were saved. So continuing work was easy.

    You need to provide us more information about your system: Please tell us what operating system (exactly) you're running. Please tell us (exactly) what InDesign version you're using. Have you made recent changes in your system?
