Question

InDesign Package Links have Metadata problems

When I prepare an InDesign layout for packaging to send off to the client for review, all linked images have EXIF & IPTC location fields set, verified and double checked as existing. However, when I run the "Package Routine" none of the linked files contain data in the IPTC fields, ie. no GPS data, no location, city or country information. It is as if the data were stripped from the linked files.

I've looked everywhere and cannot find a setting to turn this behaviour off. Any suggestions or direction is greatly appreciated?

I just now tried packaging files where I made sure the country metadata field was filled out in multiple places. After packaging and re-opening the same file (new copy) and looking at the new copy in Adobe Bridge metadata panel, the metadata was still whole and unchanged. IOW, I am not seeing what you are seeing. I am on the most recent InDesign and I'm operating macOS Ventura latest beta.

M1 MacBook pro 32gb ram and Ventura running the latest InDesign version. I've just reviewed over 600 images in the packaged Links folder for the packaged project and only one image kept its location data. I've re-imported the exported files in the Linked folder into a new lighroom catalogue and they are all missing the GPS, EXIF and IPTC location data. I then pulled them into MetaImage and got the same results.

The customer verifies photos with their GPS data and Location data before signing off.

I'm not familiar with MetaImage. What happens if you compare the metadata in Adobe Bridge, both before package and after?
