InDesign pasted url creating white space

I'm working on a regular journal that includes references with hyperlinks to online articles referenced in the journal. I've hit a one-off issue with a particular hyperlink. When I paste in the link (it is very long but this is not unusual) it creates white space for the remainder of the document. I've tried typing it in manually but same issue is happening. So even as plain text it creates the same problem. I've tried in a blank document and had the same issue. Any ideas of why this is happening?

HI @lynno7255875:

We can help but we need more information—a screen shot with hidden characters visible, for example.

In the meantime: look for extra returns (¶¶¶) that were pasted along with the URL or for a Space After value. Or try using Edit > Paste without Formatting.

Hi Barb,

Apologies for taking so long to get back to you. I tried twice but both times my reply hasn't loaded, so trying for a third time.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I've attached a screenshot (showing hidden characters) and below is a pasted version of the link. This seems to work outside of the article styling (top part of screenshot).  I've tried changing the article typeface with no effect. I tried attaching an idml file so you can take a look, but it wouldn't accept it.

Paste without formatting didn't make any difference either.
