Indesign print presets not working

After I updated the OS a few strange things have happened to my print presets. I had a few set up for different types of paper and now whenever I select them it reverts back to plain paper and standard quality. I've deleted the preferences, updated indesign, tried remaking the presets and nothing is working - does anyone have any ideas? I even tried the fix about moving the colour profiles in the library but that did't work for me either. Help!

Thank you for following up. The print presets that had stopped functioning in InDesign were using the Adobe PDF print driver. Somehow during Adobe software updates, the Adobe PDF print driver became corrupted or deleted.

My solution for fixing the InDesign print issue was the following:

Open Adobe Acrobat

Go to HELP

Run "Repair Installation"

(This reinstalled the missing or corrupted Adobe PDF print driver.)

After this - I opened InDesign and my print presets using InDesign worked perfectly once again.

Hope this information is helpful..

Had same issue. InDesign print presets no longer working after working perfectly for more than a year. Just used it without issue 2 weeks ago for same document. Now getting printer errors trying to Print Booklet. Had it down to a science that was used daily - now it doesn't work at all. Get message attached below. If I click OK, it returns to the main screen. When I try again and try to change printers, even a PDF file output, it errors out as shown below without allowing a printer choice to be made.

Getting to be a roll of the dice lately to see if things will still work as last time with various Adobe products each day. Frustrating. Using Adobe InDesign 2024 (19.4) in WIndows 11 Pro.

@RLChris121 : can you successfully print to the same printer from other apps?

What version of InDesign are you using? If your OS update was to Catalina then you will need to upgrade your Creative Cloud apps to the latest (2020) version which was released earlier this week. Any version of InDesign prior to the latest is not fully compatible with Catalina and that could be the source of your problem.

I updated to the latest indesign hoping that might sort it but still reverts back to plain paper and standart quality.

Try checking the website of your printer and see if there are any software updates for your printer. It seems possible that your OS update has changed the behavior of your printer. In that case updating it should help.

Don't print from InDesign,

Export as PDF and print from Acrobat Pro. Make there your Print Presets for all PDFs, create PDFs of all other programs before printing.

i print personalised items so to make pdfs for each one would not make sense - and seems odd when it has worked all this time previously, thank you for your idea though.
