InDesign Problems; Need Help

I am using a 1 year old iMac with MacOS 10.15.7.

1. Indesign won't quit; you can select quit in menu but nothing hppes. I have to force quit to restart computer.

2. InDesign doesn't delete .idlk files when I close the file. In fact, with file closed, is I delete a residue .idlk file, it reappears.

3. When reopening after a forced quit, InDesign opens 10-12 "old", previously closed files.

I have:

1. Deleted preferences.

2. Uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign.

3. Deleted InDesign recovery files in InDesign cache.

Open to suggestions.

Hi Bill:

I deleted only the recovery files, I didn't delete the entire cache.

Then I would move on to rebuilding the cache/preferences. It you are nervous about it, you can move the files/folders to the desktop, or rename them, in lieu of deleting them. Be sure to read the entire post before starting.

Deleting the entire cache worked. Thanks so much!

3. Deleted InDesign recovery files in InDesign cache.

I'm not clear if this means you deleted the InDesign cache (or just the recovery files).

Where are you saving the InDesign files? A local drive? Network drive? Dropbox or similar?

And when did this start happening? Was it right after the very recent 10.15.7 update or was it happening before?

It is on a local drive.

It actually started happening about a week ago, which was prior to the latest system update.
