InDesign Publish Online - Hyperlinks do NOT work

Hi, I work a lot with clients that need interactive decks that require links on images or text. Lately, I've not been able to get them to work at all.

I was finalizing a job today and links weren't working so here's my list of troubleshooting:

1. I tested a brand new blank letter size file with (1) text hyperlinked, (2) textbox hyperlinked, (3) black box hyperlinked, and (4) an image hyperlinked. These all worked, so it made me think my original project file was corrupted.

2. Then I created a new file for my project, created the single page to test the links, brought in the image and text i needed, hyperlinked the image, and published online. And it worked! Great!

3. Then I copy pasted all my content from the old file into the new file, recreated the one page with those 8 links from scratch, redid some Parent page content, and published online. And it doesnt' work! WTF!

4. So I thought *maybe* my Parent page content was overlapping the hyperlinked images since it was on Layer 2 in Parent page, and hyperlinked images were on Layer 1. Deleted the Layer 2 content, but it still didn't work.

This is beyond frustrating for me because I don't know what the issue is. Has anyone else experienced this problem recently? Does anyone know of a solution? I saw some posts recently from 2020, but the solutions didn't help me.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @norkwwd ,

does the Hyperlinks panel show "Green Light" for the used hyperlinks in your old document?

Did you try to export that document to IDML and opened the IDML file as new document, saved it to a new name and did you do that one publish online again?

FWIW: From your discription of the issue I take that the hyperlinks are not working with the publish online result in the browser. It's not an issue with the exported and downloadable PDF? If yes enable the option to export hyperlinks with the PDF export settings you are using with Publish Online.

Hi @norkwwd ,

We're so sorry for the delay in response. I understand how frustrating it can be that the issue was not resolved even after trying the possible troubleshooting steps. Would you mind confirming if you have already tried the suggestions in this similar discussion? If it still doesn't work, can you share the version of InDesign, OS, and in which browser you're testing this? We'll try our best to assist you.

Thanks
