Question

Indesign Recovery not working

Hi, I was working on a 100 page document today and just finished one round of changes when Indesign crashed. I lost almost 2 hours worth of work. When I re-opened Indesign there was no recovery document offered.
I am on a 2023 Macbook pro and am using Indesign v19.4.

Please help!

I'm sorry to hear about the crash and the lost work. Please check if there are any files in the InDesign Recovery folder. Here are the locations where you can find the recovery folder:

macOS: Users/[User Name]/Library/Cache/Adobe InDesign/Version [#.0]/InDesign Recovery

Windows: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign\Version [#].0\en_US\Caches\InDesign Recovery

Unfortunately, as Peter mentioned, if there are no recovery files in that folder, there's no way to recover the lost work, and you'll need to start again from the last saved version, if any.

Please let us know if you find any recovery files or if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Hi Anshul,
This folder does not even exist on my Mac. That is a worry. So what do I do about that? Does that mean that recovery will never work in the future either? Is there something I'm suppose to set up? Is the new version of Adobe compatible with Sonoma 14.4.1?

That's a hidden folder so you aren't looking in the right location. See Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 and later

If there was no auto-recovery there's pretty much nothing to be done other than start again from the last saved version.
