InDesign Shows "CanAcceptURL" Popup During Drag-and-Drop and Sometimes Freezes

The past few days when trying to drag and drop text I am getting a pop up that says “in CanAcceptURL.” the only way to get rid of it is to hit the escape key, although twice now I had to force quit InDesign when it appeared. I am on a Windows 11 PC and updated my apps  last week.

Has anyone else had this problem, I have been using the program since version 2.0 and have never had this happen and do not know what that message means.

Marty from Silicon Publishing here. I'd love to help see if we can rule out Silicon Connector as the root cause. You can email support at siliconpublishing.com so we can troubleshoot from there. Then, we'll post a summary of the results in this thread to benefit the community.

I am running InDesign 21.3 x64. If I remember correctly I updated it last week. I have my laptop running Windows 11 and a desktop that is still on Windows 10, both are having the same problem when dragging and dropping text within the same text box in InDesign.

I did just install a plug-in from Silicon Connector the same day on both computers for placing images from a database. I will have to look into how to uninstall that do see if it resolves the issue and will report back.

    Hi @Jerome65,

Sorry to hear you’re running into this issue. Could you please share the details requested by the experts, along with the exact InDesign version you’re currently using?

Also, please let us know how frequently this occurs. Is it consistently reproducible with the same drag-and-drop action every time, or does it happen intermittently?

Looking forward to your update so we can investigate this further.

    Thanks,
    Abhishek

Are you using any plugin? Sounds like debug code left over by a developer trying to handle a drag incoming from a browser or web view (UXP or CEP).

Can you post a screenshot of the dialog. Also, where do you drag the text from? Is it within InDesign or from another app etc?
