InDesign spell check changing English file to German and capitalizing every word.

Hi smart people. Please advise. I am working in American English. My file is fully in English. InDesign preferences are in English. My CC preferences are set to English. When I run spellcheck, it tries to replace English with German ... but also, capitalize every word. I've reinstalled InDesign, but problem persists. When I click Edit > Spelling > Dictionary, it shows German: 2006 Reform. I can choose All Languages or English, however when I exit out and go back to Dictionary, setting is reverted to German. Please help. Many thanks, in advance!
