InDesign stuck in "Touch" workspace on first open

My computer does not have a touchscreen. The default should not have opened InDesign with a touchscreen demo with no sign of how to stop/exit/dismiss it.  It is a mistake for your software to do this on a machine with no touchscreen

Suggested fixes:

1. Do not start in touchscreen mode wihtout explicity asking the user. Allow for the answer to be saved along with a "don't ask again" option.

2. Have a visible, clear method on the screen to dismiss the touchscreen demo for those who get this on a PC with no touchscreen.  (Something familiar like hitting esc key or X in upper left corner.)

Hi,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. Please try Barb's suggestion of going through the demo and then changing the workspace. You can also check this discussion for steps. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks

Hi Raymond:

This is a user-to-user forum (users helping other users figure out how to use InDesign). I updated InDesign on Windows recently and had the same experience—I should have grabbed screen shots because this comes up from time to time—I just moved through the touch screen demo and then choose Advanced from the workspace list in the top right corner.  I haven't seen the touch screen workspace since.

As users, we can't implement any changes to InDesign (again, just explain how it works). If you have suggestions or want to report a bug, you can do it at https://indesign.uservoice.com/—that way you can be sure the InDesign team (who can implement changes) will see it.

The Feature Request tag you chose is there because someday we may be able to consolidate questions, bug reports and future requests here but it isn't happening yet.
