I see this problem is 10 years old. I tried deleting preferences CTL+SHIFT+ALT.

There is a suggestion that “click the word Touch” - click with what my mouse? Oh you have to go through the Touch Gesture tutorial before you can get access to this menu!

Ok i’m going to leave this question here

Well, yes, you figured it out. Go through the tutorial and then forget it ever existed. It’s a fun little feature for quickly laying things out and demos nicely but honestly, it borders on worthless.

@Inspired Kindergartens I could have sworn I saw a touch setting in the preferences? Yes, it’s in the Interface - Enable Multi-Touch Gestures. Control K to open InDesign Preferences - Interface - Enable Multi-Touch Gestures

    Enable Multi-Touch Gestures ON

Just make sure to uncheck that!

    Enable Multi-Touch Gestures OFF

That setting also works with trackpads, including Macs. Whether it’s enabled or not has nothing to do with the display of the touch interface which always defaults to on with a new InDesign installation on a Windows touch enabled device.
