InDesign sublists not recognising header list

Hi Adobe,

I have Itemised lists set out with a sublist underneath. When I create a new header. For example 2.0 the sub list doesn't recognise the 2.0 and continues from 1.1 to 1.2 regardless of the header list.

Can you please advise on how I set the nested list correctly?

Hi @Sally33364924z4df,

Thanks for sharing the screenshot and details. Try going into the Bullets and Numbering options for your sublist paragraph style and make sure it points to the same list as your header style. Also, set the numbering to restart after a specific level so that when you create a new header like 2.0, the sublist automatically starts under it instead of continuing from the previous header.

Please give that a try and let me know if it resolves the issue. If not, could you also confirm which version of InDesign and operating system you're working on so I can check further?

Looking forward to your update.
