INDESIGN - Table Styles - Keeps applying wrong character style

I'm working on a Price Book for my employer, and all the data is linked from an excel spreadsheet.

The Table Styles, Cell Styles and Paragraph Styles were all working together perfectly but now when I refresh the excel document it's adding in a Character Style which I didn't set it to do... Before it had no character styles and now it's applying one to EVERYTHINg. I can't seem to set the table/cell/paragraph styles to use character style 'none'.

How can I fix this so I don't have to manually update character styles to none EVERY time I updated the excel document.

Hi,

don't know if that helps:

Make sure that you did not select a custom character style in the Character Styles Panel when doing an update of the data.

Best select "None" in the Character Styles Panel before. Do the cell styles apply any character styles?

Can you show a sample before updating and after updating the linked spreadsheet?

Thankyou so much!

I didn't think it could be something so simple...

Even though all the settings were correct, if i had the character style clicked when I 'placed' the data.. it automatically applied it to the data.. and even once I cleared it all, when I updated the data it put it back.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Trevor:

A character style can be nested into a paragraph style definition (which can be nested into cell styles). If it is getting assigned automatically, I'd check the nested style section of the paragraph styles in the table.
