Indesign text box auto loading cursor on right

Each time I draw a new text box in indesign (v.13.1.1) the cursor defaults to the right hand side.
If I re-align the text direction to be left-right, the punctuation becomes all jumbled. How do I restore to the original settings on a mac? !

Its maybe either a thing of resetting the preferences, or just some wrong settings in the pragraph-window about the used language, mostly arabic (which has an other text direction).

There are some more writing from right to left... Right-to-left - Wikipedia
