InDesign Text Suddenly Disappeared but Frame Not Empty

I was writing on my text box when suddenly the content turns blank. I tried doing ctrl+z but I had hit the limit count of undoes. Even if I try to copy the text into another text box, nothing happens except for emptiness. I might have lost my text since I was writing directly onto the file.

Btw, this is still happening even after updating indesign. Whenever I type in a word/letter and there’s little space, the text box acts like it has overset text and everything turns blank. But there’s plenty of space.

Does it happen with any paragraph style or only a specific one? Check if there’s anything in your paragraph style settings that can cause this behavior (in Keep Options etc.) Enable hidden characters—do you see anything unusual?

I unchecked “no break” and apparently it was that.

Update InDesign to 21.2 and make sure Windows is fully updated to 25H2 and all optional updates are installed.

Check to see whether text wrap panel is defaulted to on. That might be causing the text to go overset.

you have overset text here:

check in story editor if you entered something that pushed text out of sight.

also, are you using InDesign 21.2? earlier versions had issues with disappearing text on Windows as well as disappearing undo steps (although I’m not sure that your issue is related to this).
