InDesign threw me out everytime... no matter what I do

I'm working on a pretty big project in my studies at InDesign,
while I was working InDesign just threw me out and asked me to do an "automatic recovery"
- so I did, but unfortunately it didn't work and threw me out again.. I closed all the programs on the computer and restarted the computer, it didn't help ,
I deleted InDesign from the creative cloud and reinstalled - that didn't work either...
what should I do? please help!
The project deadline is approaching and I can't work... my whole project is there 😞

Correct answer Peter Spier

Exactly. There is corrupt recovery data, as I suggested above, that is causing this and you need to remove it.

If you reread what I posted origianlly I said that other thread would tell you where to locate the Recovery folder. I did not say that following the directions for resetting prefences would help. You need to use the path information in that article (I don't know your OS, so I can't tell you here where to look) to locate the folder in either Finder (Mac, and it will be hidden, so you'lll need to follow the linked instructions to reveal it) or File Explorer (PC), then open the Recovery folder and delete the data that is causing the problem.

Further to @Peter Spier

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the
Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

Hi @Tal ba ,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. Please try the steps shared by Peter, and if you still need assistance, please confirm if InDesign is crashing after performing any specific action or if it's crashing randomly. Is it happening only with this file or multiple files?

Thanks

Rishabh

If automatic recovery fails you'll need to delete the recovery data before inDesign will start normally again.

Troubleshooting 101: Replace, or "trash" your preferencesis an old thread I wrote that describes whre to find the InDesign SavedData file. The recovery folder is in the same location. Please look at the path carefully, and read the directions for finding hidden files on Mac if you are a Mac user.

Once the recovery data is gone InDesing should restart normally, but you will have lost any changes to your work since the previous last save. You can try simply moving the recovery data out of the folder in case you want to try opeing it again (by moving it back after a successful restart) but that is almost certasin to fail aggain.
