InDesign to EPUB, distorting layout then fixes itself

When I create an EPUB in InDesign, using an iPad preset template, it distorts the EPUB file in Kindle for one second then it goes back to normal a second later. The momentary distortion happens when I open the EPUB in Kindle. Does anyone know how to fix it so that these momentary distortions don't happen in Kindle??

I can't think of a reason this has anything to do with InDesign, or, very likely, the EPUB file itself. It's more likely to be reader/platform behavior.

It's just barely possible you have a wonky or poorly defined element that momentarily throws the reader's interpretation. Do you have ny images in the EPUB, especially on the first or first few pages?

For what it's worth, nothing about your starting template has anything to do with the result. All page/document layout information is discarded on export to reflowable EPUB. (And if you're exporting to fixed page EPUB, FXL, that's a whole can of problem in itself. Not recommended.)
