Hi.

I have created a logo in illustrator. The logo have a box shaped object which have a white transparent gradient. The problem is when i place it into my Indesign-file, it loose the gradient and instead turns into a complete white box. I thought it might just be a display problem in my indesign-file. But if I save the Indesign file into a PDF-file it still is a complete white box instead of the gradient version thats in my logo.

All the best / J.

Thanks BobLevine. The PDF/X-4 solved the problem. Cheers!

    Hi joakimflagga ,

what did you do differently now?

    1. Export to PDF/X-4 from InDesign?

    2. Save as PDF/X-4 from Illustrator?

When placing the logo, do you have "Transparent Background" selected? To view this option, make sure you have "Show Import Options" selected before selecting file.

What format is the logo: .ai, .pdf, .eps?

    Hi joakimflagga ,

what happens if you save your AI file to PDF/X-4 ?

Will that contain the right gradient?

If yes, place the saved PDF/X-4 file instead of the AI file.

What's your exact versions of InDesign and Adobe Illustrator?
What's your PDF viewing app you inspect the result PDF from InDesign?

    What's your operating system?

    Regards,
    Uwe

I thought, that by default, the AI file was saved as PDF/X-4 unless a user specifically changed it, which is certainly worth looking at.

Also, do not flatten the PDF when exporting out of InDesign.
