Question

InDesign unable to launch stuck in menu cannot interact windows 11

indesign is not launching, i click run- the artwork pops up- then opens the indesign menu. I can't interact with anything on this menu, i can't even close indesign and have to close it through the task manager. I've tried deleting indesign files that are show on app freeze/crash on launch https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/crash-on-launch.html#DLL and reinstalling but the issue continues. I'm on windows 11 and the version of indesign is 19.2, would love some help asap thank you in advance. can an employee connect to my device and fix this issue please? i have already made a similar post in the past and tried all the recommendations, still have the same problem.

In addition to the suggestions of @Abhishek Rao , you need to at least update to the latest version of InDesign 2024, that is 19.5.5 (if you don't wish to upgrade to InDesign 2025). You can do so from the Creative Cloud app.

Hi @ANAND28847789dd7h,

Thanks for explaining the situation in detail. Is there a specific reason you're staying on version 19.2, since the latest release is 20.5? I'd recommend updating to the latest version if possible and checking if the problem persists. In the meantime, please try manually resetting InDesign preferences after creating a backup to rule out any corruption in settings: https://adobe.ly/483ebhw. It would also help to test once in Windows Safe Mode to see if any third-party process might be interfering: https://adobe.ly/4gMFRcG. If the issue continues, check whether the same happens when signing in with a new Windows user profile: https://adobe.ly/48rQ0tt.

If none of these steps help, try renaming the CEP folder to CEP.old from this location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe. If that still doesn't resolve it, rename the UXP folder to UXP.old from these locations:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\

Please give this a try and let me know your observations.

Looking forward to your update.

Abhishek
