Question

Indesign unstable after updating to OS 26.2 Tahoe

I updated to the new Tahoe just a couple of days ago and I've had nothing but problems with my whole adobe package since. The most basic document of 16 pages is constantly crashing in Indesign, I've done force-quit more than in the past five years. After raising prices for the package (again) extremely dissapointing performance.

Just adding an update: I've tried opening the same file on another macbook air (Sequoia 15.6, Indesign version 21.1) and the files opens just fine.

Hi @Captivating_moments98A5,

Thanks for the update and for confirming that the same file works fine on another Mac. I'm checking this internally with the Product team and will share an update as soon as I hear back. In the meantime, could you please try launching your Mac in Safe Mode and then test InDesign there to confirm whether the issue still occurs? This will help isolate whether any third-party extensions, or system-level add-ons on macOS Tahoe might be contributing to the behavior. You can follow the steps here to start your Mac in Safe Mode: https://adobe.ly/45V1bsk

If the issue still persists in Safe Mode, I also wanted to let you know that the Product team has started the phase 1 rollout of InDesign 2026 version 21.2 (GA). Please check the Creative Cloud Desktop app to see if the update is available for you, and if so, install it and test the file again. If it's not visible yet, please wait a bit and try again once it appears, then test and share your findings.

I'll keep you posted on any updates from the team.

Looking forward to your update.

Just adding some more info: this is a very basic flyer of 16 pages that I had been working on last week without any problems. I've had to switch from my laptop (that wasn't on Tahoe) to my Mac Mini (that is on Tahoe) because there has been an issue with my laptop. I've download the whole folder from OneDrive to work on it locally. First I had problems opening the indesign, but after multiples attempts and trying an older .idml version, I was able to finally open an automatically saved version after a crash and restart from there. Now I'm having troubles exporting it to pdf and also the doc is just constantly freezing. My Indesign is version 21.1, my Mac is on 26.2 Tahoe.

Hi Captivating_moments98A5,

Thank you for reaching out and reporting the issue. Would you mind telling us whether this is happening with a specific document or with all documents? Is it possible for you to share a sample file for our investigation?

It would be helpful if you could share a short video showing the issue. Does the issue occur only on the Mac with Tahoe or on your laptop as well that doesn't have Tahoe?

We will try our best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

Thanks for reaching out. So far, it's only happening with this one document, but I was working on it without any issue just last week. It's coming from a previously packaged file, so maybe that's what's triggering it? I'll try to recreate the problem tomorrow, make a screenrecording and check whether it occurs on another macbook without Tahoe for reference. What do you mean by sharing a sample file?
