Indesign User interface sizing

Hi all, not sure if anyone has had the same issue but since the 2020 updates. My Indesign user interface is double the size and takes up much of my 14" screen. I thought it was a windows problem but my Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop are completely fine and perfect size. Does anyone know how to change this? Thanks

UI scaling in InDesign on Windows is still based on Windows Vista technology. It's a hot mess that I've been complaining about for years. The AI and PS teams have done an admirable job with the UI scaling but the ID team for some reason shows absolutely no interest in fixing it.

 

Unless you can exactly match the O/S scaling at 100% 150% or 200% you're going to have a mess on your hands. 

 

And I'll bet when the Adobe employees do their "we hope you've found a solution" round of replies, this post will be skipped.

 

I'd settle for an explanation for why this is still not fixed but nobody at Adobe is even remotely interested in providing one.

No one EVER solves this. Those of us who work on TV monitors (for the large size) can never get the panels text (among other things) to scale up so they are legible. This causes great eyestrain and is just terrible, over all. This problem has been around for about 20 years, and the folks at InDesign don't care. They have never fixed it.

    Not true, in this case. I can't even use that scaling, as it is greyed out. And certainly not for the size of panel text. The only solutions include changing my resolution, which I can't do, because I am disabled, and work from a recliner, using a large TV for a monitor. My work requires a large screen, anyway (so does my vision). This has been an issue for something like 20 years, and people have continually complained and requested this feature and fix, and the InDesign team does not care. They have never done a thing about it. If there was another program that would handle the publishing I do, I would be using it. As it is, I’m stuck with ID.

    To address this issue, I recommend trying a couple of adjustments:

    • Increasing Window Scaling Settings: First, try adjusting the window scaling settings from your computer's display settings. This can often help scale up the interface elements to make them more legible on larger monitors.

    • InDesign Preference Scaling Settings: Additionally, within InDesign itself, there are scaling settings that you can adjust. Go to the preferences menu in InDesign and look for options related to User interface scaling. Increasing these settings might also improve the legibility of the panels and text.
