ID Version 18.3
OSX 12.6.6 Monterey

Does your NAS connect to the network by DHCP or do all your devices have static IP addresses?

I've run across problems with clients who use DHCP to let their networks auto-assign IP addresses. Whenever you connect/reconnect to the network, your new IP address(es) breaks links and you have to manually re-establish links because they're linking to *new* connections.

If your IT folks can't address this with you directly — or you're the IT folks and may not know the answer — you can try this experiment:

Create a new InDesign test document.

Place six items into the test document: three from your local system drive and three from your NAS location. Save and close the document.

Shut down your computer. Fire it up again and restart InDesign, then open your test document.

If your three locally placed files maintain their links and the three links to the NAS don't link, you can isolate the problem to your connection(s) to the NAS. And, with the permission of the IT folks, perhaps you can assign static IP addresses to your equipment and hopefully get past your problem.

Hope this helps,

Randy

Hi Randy, our clients are connected via DHCP to the NAS.

So I will test your suggestion.
