InDesign very SLOW

For some time Indesign has been very slow. It freezes and the colored ball starts spinning for several seconds. I recently changed my Mac and installed 64GB of ram, 3.6GHz Intel Core i9 10 core processor. With Photoshop and Illustrator it is a missile. So Indesign has problems. Tips?

Correct answer Derek Cross

Which version of InDesign and how much spare disk capacity do you have?

Have you tried resetting the InDesign preferences:

1) Close InDesign
2) Double click on Adobe InDesign's icon to launch it
3) QUICKLY hold down Ctrl+Alt+Shift. (for Windows) or CTL+OPT+CMD+Shift (for Mac OS X)
4) When a dialogue appears, asking you “Delete InDesign Preference Files?” Click Yes.

(If you don't see the question do it again.)

Hi there,

I hope your issue is resolved now. In addition to Derek & Eugene's responses, I'd recommend checking out this community post(https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign/resolve-slow-performance-and-unexpected-behavior-of-indesign/td-p/11487287?page=1) if you have such issues in the future. Hope they help.

Regards,

Ashutosh

It should be working fine - as per Derek post resetting your preferences is a first step.

There's a list of items here too

https://creativepro.com/why-is-indesign-soooo-slow/

Is it every file in InDesign or just one file?

Hi Derek,

The version is the 16.2 (the latest).

Spare Disk capacity: 304 GB

I reset Indesign and it seems pretty fast for the moment

Thanks

Marco
