InDesign Won't Save Files: Corruption Issues When Using VPN

Hello, I hope somebody can help. my inDesign software has been working fine until 2 days ago. I use inDesign via my laptop onto a remote desktop using a VPN. I also edit and save files to a remote drive using the same VPN. Yesterday when I tried to save a document it said it was corrupted. This same issue has happened with any files that I try and open and resave. The only way I can save a document is to save it onto the remote desktops C drive, but then try to copy it back to remote drives it won’t let me (this may be an administrator issue)

 

I have literally hundreds of InDesign files, has anybody got any ideas why it worked perfectly up until 2 days ago, but has now developed this problem?

 

FYI, I am using V 19.5

Thank you to everyone that responded to my email, fortunately in the end, the fault was found to be an within our shared folder network and not Indesign, once the I.T. department found the issue it was quickly resolved and all files can now happily be saved and stored.

Hi @andyp75106868 ,

I've seen that as well with a colleague a few days ago. Had no time to investigate further.

He is on macOS 12.7 with an older MacBook Pro (Intel machine) , was connected via VPN and is using InDesign 19.5.0.

Could be an issue with latency on the network.

We could not recover the document. It was damaged beyond repair. Also tried the automated Adobe Service for this. No chance… Tried it on his machine, tried it on mine. In the end we had to use a backup file from the server.

I understand how frustrating it can be to encounter these saving issues, especially when you've been able to work smoothly for so long. To help us diagnose the problem more effectively, could you provide more detail about your setup? Specifically, it would be helpful to know:

1. The operating system you’re using on your laptop.
2. The details of the VPN you are using.
3. Any recent changes to your network or system settings.

4. Is the issue specific to InDesign or happening with other Creative Cloud Applications as well? 

 

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. If possible, try accessing your files without the VPN to see if the problem persists.

2. Since you mentioned issues copying files back to remote drives, it may be worth checking your permissions with your system administrator to ensure you have the necessary access.
