Indesing big problem

Hi, my big problem: when I go to save in the document in Indesign, it always creates a PDF file instead of an Indesign file, ie. When I close the indesign file, only a PDF file exists and the content in the indesign file is gone. The only option is, I have to go to save as, and then select CS4 or higher for the file type below, then it creates a file, but I always have to do that, which means that the automatic save no longer works. Now it happened to me that I just went to save and all my work was gone because I closed the document. And I can't open the PDF file either - unless I export it first, otherwise the PDF file that is created cannot be opened. Can someone please help me, I probably accidentally changed something and can't get rid of it. Thank you

Thanks, opening with worked now. But unfortunately I can't assign the file name. this doesn't work with f2. That means, visually and in terms of file type, the document is still Adobe Acrobat...

I told you how to fix it. Right click, choose open with and be sure to enable always open with InDesign.

There have been reports of INDD files being associated with Acrobat but you've given us zero information to be sure. First, please supply screenshots of Finder or Windows Explorer showing the files in question and before you do that, make sure you have the display of file extensions available.

My guess is you'll see these are INDD files but the icons will show Acrobat. You'll need to re-associate the INDD file extension with InDesign.

My answer stands. Please follow my directions and enable the file extensions and you will see that these are not PDFs.

Does it add the pdf extension to the saved file? Can you share a video of what you see, so that we can figure out what is going on at your end.
