Index Entry Is Added as a Topic Instead of a Page Reference

Question

In Indesign I open Index, I highlight a word in my document that I want in the index (I don't want topics). I have "reference" selected. I choose New Page Reference, Add All and Done. I have Current Page selected. Then my entry ends up as a topic. It happens over and over again. What to do?

I figured it out finally. You have to open the arrows next to the word twice: the downward facing arrow next to the Letter and the left pointing arrow next to the entry.

>Then my entry ends up as a topic. It happens over and over again.You can’t have a page reference without a topic. When you create a page reference for a highlighted word, InDesign has to create a topic from that word.
