Indicator mouse freezes in InDesign and Photoshop

Hello everyone,

This is my first message here, so bear with me :-).

I have an annoying problem and was wondering if anyone else experiences the same. When I'm working in InDesign my indicator mouse freezes/is not visible every time I move from one page to the other. So I am within a text frame for instance on one page doing a correction and when I move on to the next page my indicator is sort of frozen. When I do Command-tab twice (switching to another program like Acrobat or Finder and back to InDesign again) the indicator mouse is there again. Also in Photoshop: if I open an image (from InDesign-links panel or from Finder) and want to change resolution for instance, I can tab-move between the fields, but the indicator mouse is not visible so I cannot tick a box like Resampling. Have not tried Illustrator yet.

I have a Wacom One pen mouse, my MacBook Pro 2021 has macOS Sequoia on it, Adobe apps are up-to-date. My first thought was to upgrade my computer, apps & the driver of my Wacom One pen (done). That worked shortly, but now it's back again. I've asked Wacom, but they say it's not a Wacom-problem, but an Adobe-problem. When chatting with the Adobe-bot I got two links, but they only seem to answer the complete program-freeze and not this mouse-freeze.

I can work around and use my laptop's mouse or Command-tab, but it is very frustrating and time consuming to work like this. Does anyone have the same problem and know how to fix it? Or suggestions where to look? I'm not that great of a technician to know what is happening...

Thanks a lot, Marleen

I am running into the same issue in InDesign in Windows 11 when using my One by Wacom. All applications work fine except InDesign, which seems to not "reestablish the connection" once I move the stencil too far from the tablet.

As described by @Marleen Klein Brinke, switching to another application and back is a workaround, but it is really tedious.

I do not remember experiencing this before updating InDesign.

BTW, I just checked with a Wacom Intous BT S, and lifting the stencil is not an issue. Maybe the issue is limited to the One by Wacom.

OK, Wacom earlier said that my Wacom was not the issue, but Adobe was. I will check back with them, because I just checked the' reestablish connection' remark. I also notice it when I lift my pen a bit up (which I do when I start typing or use the keyboard to switch pages) it freezes. When I use my keyboard with the other hand and keep my pen close to the tablet, it works just fine!! Thanks for this. I will contact Wacom again (or buy another Wacom tablet).

Do you have any third party plug-ins running on your Mac operating system? If so try disabling them and see if the problem persists.

Lovely people, I feel a bit overwhelmed in how to solve it. I'm not that technical I'm afraid.

What third party plug-ins should I think about? Fontmanaging or scripts in InDesign? I've noticed in the meantime that switching between InDesign / Photoshop and Acrobat / Finder works for also ticking boxes for instance in Photoshop, but it is still annoying to switch every time.

Just in case: by "indicator mouse" I assume you're referring to the mouse cursor?

Also, do I understand correctly that you only have the issue with Wacom One pen mouse, but not with your laptop's trackpad or other external mice?

Yes, I mean the mouse cursor. I'm not native English haha. Thank you!

And also yes to the next question: I only experience this with my Wacom One pen mouse, not with the trackpad (just checked). This was not the case before, so I'm still wondering what has changed... If anyone kwows a solution, please share it with me! Thanks so much!

Marleen

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Thank you. I was not sure if it was the correct spot. As you already said: it's not easy to navigate... 😞
