Interactive button in book dokument do not work

Hi all, I have an indesign book document that consists of 2 indesign files. on all pages there is an interactive navigation with buttons that lead to the table of contents, or scroll 1 page forward and 1 back. in the 1st document there is the table of contents. in the 2nd document i have set the link to the table of contents to the 1st document, but it does not work when i create the interactive pdf. the scroll forward and back functions work fine. what is the problem?

The problem is with the format itself. If you insist on creating this type of navigation be aware that buttons in PDFs are going to be unpredictable in Acrobat or Reader and will likely not work at all in any 3rd party reader or on a mobile device.

My suggestion would be to replace them with bookmarks or hyperlinks.
