I'm trying to place an mp4 file in a indesign doc, it's a GIF, when i try to export, i get the message written in the title of this post ^^. Can anyone tell me how to properly place it in the document so it can be exported as an interactive PDF pls?

The other option is to use in5, an InDesign plugin (at extra cost), you can include interactivity and multi-media in such documents and they can be read on most devices: https://ajarproductions.com

You can't successfully distribute an Interactive PDF containing a video (you can include a hyperlink in an Interactive PDF to an external site with a video, such as YouTube or similar), or use another format such as FXL ePub or InDesign's Publish Online feature.

Ok, they just can't contain video then? What if it was a GIF instead of mp4?

You can't have any form of animation in a PDF.

First things first: you say and show mp4 but you also say GIF... What does that mean?
Did you convert a GIF with a third party app to a mp4? Very confusing this 'it is a GIF' remark.

Also: which version of  InDesign  are you using?

Last: if I look at the path of the file it looks like you placed it directly from the mail message before saving it as a file first (it points to an mbox directory on your HD), that will never work.

My bad, yes it's an mp4,  not a GIF
