Interactive PDF pop-ups not working unless first pop-up instance is clicked

Hello!

When I export an Indesign CC interactive PDF with multiple pop-up throughout the document, I can only activiate the pop-up feature by clicking on the first instance of the pop up.

example. I click on pg 30 with a pop-up feature, it does not work. I have to go page to the first page that has a pop-up feature and click on that pop-up. Once I click on the first instance of the pop-up feature, all the pop up will work fine.

Anyone else have this issue? not sure if it is an Indesign issue or Acrobat issue.

Ok. Try exporting 2 pages now. Then 3. Keep going until the popups fail. When they do fail, check the buttons and popups (multi-state objects, or MSOs, correct?) on the page you added. There should be your problem. It might not be only problem, so once you fix it, keep trying the export with one additional page.

Can’t be MSOs. They don’t work in PDFs.

The OP is using show/hide buttons which have been reported to be troublesome when adding a whole lot of them.

I have a 66 page PDF with multiple popup on mostly all of them.

I did export the indesign document as a SWF to see if the same issue would show itself in that format, and worked without any issue in the browser.

The initial layout was created a couple years ago (before I was hired). The same issue was happening, however, one of the mac's I believe had an older OS and the PDF exported without a glitch.

I was wondering if I upgraded to a new OS it would work? We are all on the same OS (OSX)

Does the popup work if you export just the page it's on?

If I just export one of the pages closer to the end, the pop up does work.

yeah. they don't work well or at all. my advice is to not do popups.

Ignore the advice "to not do popups". They've always worked just fine for me, and I've written books on creating Interactive PDFs in InDesign, including popups.

Please answer these questions:

- In what application are you viewing the PDF?

- What operating system?

- Have you tried using the PDF in other applications and different devices?

- What are you using to trigger the popup?

Please answer those questions to get moving on troubleshooting.

• I am viewing the PDF in Acrobat Pro DC

• I am using Mac OS X

• I tried exporting interactive PDF on other Mac Machines OS X; and I used Acrobat Reader to Open as well. I haven't had a chance to use other PDF views

• The pop up are triggered as show/hide button

• All buttons and links were created in the Indesign document.
