Question

Is it possible to attach a downloadable file in an InDesign document?

I am in the process of making a handbook in InDes but have two Word doc forms that I would like to attach to the document that is downloadable, I know it is possible to add Word doc files into my document, but I need them to be able to be filled out as they are forms meaning the best option would be if it were possible to download the forms from the doc (perhaps via a link or something that opens up and is editable).

Thanks in advance for any help 🙂

There is no built in way within InDesign to attach additional files.

How it should be handled should be determined by how you're distributing your handbook. Are you really distributing an InDesign file (which would require anyone who used it to have InDesign installed?) That would also require them to have copies of your fonts and any linked graphics.

Are you creating a PDF file of the handbook to distribute?  How will it be distributed?

Thanks for the response, I am planning to use it for a company digital handbook (Interactive PDF) export, I have hyperlinks in the doc so far which have worked in interactive export but ideally wanted a similar thing for work forms that could be downloaded and edited. Distribution will be through our team's online folder (All Online).

If everything is online, use a Google Form, a Microsoft Form or create a proper form for the website itself.
