Question

Is it possible to create graphical components in the same way as XD in order to reuse it?

Hello! Here is my problem: I created a paragraph style title 2 on which I added a part of our logo aligned on the left. The problem is that I can't add a shape in a style so I would like to try to create a component (the same way as in XD) in order to be able to reuse it, and that if I change for example the color of the shape, that this change applies on all the variants. Indeed if I have a layout containing N title 2 I don't want to make this change manually.

Hi @hugoperfect63 ,

if the shape could be a glyph from a special font you could do this by applying a GREP Style to the applied paragraph style.

When needed: To actually create that special OTF font, just one glyph for example, you could use a script like IndyFont for InDesign (you can make a one glyph font with the free trial version):

Thank you for your answer. Do you know how to apply a GREP style for a glyph? I can't find the possibility to do it. Thank you.

Hi Hugo,

simply use a GREP Style for a character of a special font.

Hint: You could use the unicode code point for this.

Glyph id is not possible.
