Is it possible to disable an OTF Stylistic Set defined in a paragraph style?

I have a paragraph style with an OTF Stylistic Set enabled.

When creating a character style, there is no option to disable this Stylistic Set — or to specify that no Stylistic Set should be used at all.

The font I’m using already uses all 20 Stylistic Sets, so selecting a different, unused set is not an option.

Can anyone help, please?

    Thank you Dan,

The problem is that this is an old book consisting of 400 pages divided into 14 documents within an InDesign Book file (and I have another four similar books).

There are at least 12 character styles linked to this specific font, and my intention was to update the existing character styles rather than create new ones, since doing so would require finding and replacing all of them across the documents, which would involve a significant amount of work.

    But 🙂

    I found a partial solution:

    1. After removing the selected Stylistic Set, I will create a new character style that contains only a hidden definition of No Stylistic Set. I will call it “No Set”.
    1. Then, I will open the character styles that should not use the Stylistic Set and set them to be based on the “No Set”character style.
    1. Finally, I will synchronize all documents.

I can’t think of a more efficient or time-saving solution.

Later, I’ll suggest in UserVoice to adding some kind of “None” option to the Stylistic Set settings.

    Thank you very much,
    Shlomit

    1. In a paragraph that has your Paragraph Style applied (which uses a Set), select some text.
    2. In the Character panel’s top right menu go into OpenType > Stylistic Sets > and deselect the Set(s) so none are selected.
    3. With the text still selected create a new Character Style. It may look like it contains nothing but it should work.

You should just be able to de-select the applied stylistic that’s set on the Paragraph Style.
