Question

Is it possible to insert a Sharepoint version number into an indesign variable text parameter

For some context:

I'm using a Microsoft Sharepoint team space as my file server, and using it in conjunction with OnDrive to create a synced Mapped Drive to allow remote working portablity.

this is working great for working with our Adobe CC working files so that part isn't an issue.

Natively Sharepoint has a versioning engine which keeps version copies in behind the current active File.  Eg while the file may always be called File.indd it keeps background versions based on when a files is saved/synced and each instance will be referenced as 1.0, 1.1, 1.2.... 2.0, 2.1... etc in the background. This means that while the file name will always be displayed as File.indd in the folder view in the version history that current active version will be assigned the highest current rolling version number in the history.

I understand the Sharepoint is able to provide the current version data via {_UIVersionString} which I've found instructions where tgat data call can be used my MS Word to display the version number on a docment page.

So my question is, could there be a way for this Sharepoint data string be used by indesign files to pull in the current active version number of a working i ndesign file and inject it into a variable text field to apply a version number to an indesign page in the same way?

has anyone ever done something similar or know of a way that this could be achieved dynamically?

would be very interested to know what is possible.
