Question

Is it possible to lock the size of an object frame, but still allow for changing of position?

Trying to figure out if there is a way to lock the size of an object frame without also locking the position. Trying to prevent an object frame from being resized, but I want to be able to still move this object around the page if need be.

Do you mean with locking the size of an object frame (like an image frame) that you want to keep its size constant? If so you can use an option in the Object Style Options Dialogue and apply this style to the frames you want to have the same size.

Sure you can still resize it but you get it back to the desired measurements with a click of a button: the Clear Overrides button in the Object Styles panel.

No, Janine. Locking an object means it is locked. You cannot change object size or position—or even select it—unless you unlock it.

Well partly untrue, if you unselect "Prevent Selection of Locked Objects" in preferences.. you can select and edit the contents.. you just can't move or resize the object. I hope to find a solution to this, feels like you should be able to lock just the size. But maybe not, may just be a photoshop feature.

Photoshop is not locking objects, it's locking layers: Lock Transparent Pixels, Lock Image Pixels, Lock Position, and Lock All.

Neither InDesign nor Illustrator have ways to change certain aspects of an object, which would be much harder to do, I'm guessing.
